Rosa Harris Greer

Rosa Harris Greer, 85, of Hickory, N.C., passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, after a period of declining health.
Born February 2, 1934 in St. Charles, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Robert Harris and Lilly Mae Carter Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Greer; a sister, Joy Boling; and a brother, Harry Harris.
A member of Tri-City Baptist Church, Rosa had retired from Shuford Mills after over 30 years of service. She was the daughter of a preacher and ultimately ended up marrying a preacher as well, and was married for 62 years.
Rosa enjoyed cooking, feeding and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gospel music, reading her Bible, and loved talking on the phone. She was a mother to a lot of people and to know her was to love her.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Sloope and husband Mickey of Bethlehem, and Teresa Spires and husband Chris of Hickory; a son, Jeff Greer and wife Kathy of Blowing Rock; grandchildren, Lacey Patterson and husband Scott of Bethlehem, Matthew Keener and wife Leslie of Mooresville, Brandon Keener of Hickory, Cole Greer and Drew Greer, both of Blowing Rock, Chanda Antoon and husband Jay of Charlotte, and Crystal Russell and husband Scott of Davidson; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Paula Brotherton.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 23, in the chapel at Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Repass officiating. A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
