James Douglas Storey

James Douglas Storey, 83, of Roanoke, Va., quietly passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born January 25, 1936 in Elizabethton, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Cress Storey and Hazel Smith Storey, and a sister, Nell Mac Kinnon. Raised in Elizabethton, Tenn., he moved to the Roanoke Valley in 1960 to work for General Electric where he worked for GE in the test department for 37 years, retiring in November of 1997.
His surviving family includes his wife of 62 years, Lois Gayle Johnson Storey; his children, Vicki Hoover and husband Eric and J. Curtis Storey and wife Pam; a sister, Carolyn Spilberg; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and extended family.
