Shirley Ann Ledford, age 71, of Elizabethton, Tennessee gained her Angel wings unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Shirley was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Barney and Christina Nidiffer Swift. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Wade Ledford; one daughter, Christina Lynn Ellison; and one brother, Jack Swift.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, mamaw and great granny. She was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and had worked as a seamstress. Shirley enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, loved music and clogging, sewing and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was indeed her life!
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories include a son, Jesse Ledford and wife Judy, of Elizabethton; two daughters, Dawn Ledford Sheffield and husband Deon and Crystal Ledford and boyfriend, Gerald Brown, of Elizabethton; her much adored grandchildren, Heather Stewart and husband Brad, Jessica “Nabob” Ledford and her fiancé, Chris Heiss, Olivia “Splinter Butt” Eleas and husband Chris, Katelyn “Moochie” Presnell and her fiancé, J.R. Coleman, Autumn “Smoochum” Sheffield and Cole Garland; her beloved great grandchildren, Jashon Yates Ledford, Emmily Cross , Colton Coleman, Talliah Eleas, Faith Ann Ellison and Malachi Scalf; her boyfriend, Rick “Truck” Trivette and her special friend, Helen Murray; and her special fur baby, Ladybug.
A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Ann Ledford will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2019, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Norman Markland, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday or at the residence at other times.
The graveside service will follow at Wade’s Picking Place Cemetery, 268 Russell Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN. Active pallbearers will be Jashon Yates Ledford, Cole Garland, Jared Houghton, Joe Johnson, Jacob Rash, Robert Cox and Chris Heiss.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Tennessee, 2319 Browns Mill Road, Johnson City, TN 37604 in Shirley’s memory.
