Jeanne Gamble Hartley

Jeanne Gamble Hartley, 78, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Jeanne was born in Kingsport, Tenn., to the late James C. Gamble and Dorothy Carathers Gamble. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Barksdale, and one brother, Jim Gamble Jr.
Jeanne retired as an English teacher in Florida. She was a member of Borderview Christian Church, and as a minister’s wife she had served in many different areas at different churches. Jeanne also volunteered with ARM and she loved people and helping others. Most of all she loved the Lord and her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Kenneth D. Hartley, of the home; two sons, Douglas Hartley and wife Hohna of Alexandria, Ky., and Gregory Hartley and wife Shannon of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Alex, Ana, Addi, Ava, Luke, Kenna and Lea Claire; and one sister, Rebekah Weldon of Alpharetta, Ga.
A service to celebrate the life of Jeanne Gamble Hartley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. John Smith and Mr. Scott Fisher, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Scott Reynolds. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Borderview Christian Church, 1338 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
