On an evening where a battle more important than baseball was the highlight of the night, the Elizabethton Cyclones remained perfect in Three Rivers Conference play by taking a pair from Happy Valley after Monday night’s contest was washed out.

Between games, thanks to the fans in the stands exceeding the needed amount of donations to see both coaches have their heads shaved for cancer research at St. Jude’s Children Hospital, each coach took the seat on the bucket and faced the sheers.

It was something that Happy Valley head coach Brad Hill held dear and near to his heart as his son, Kael, is a cancer survivor.

In the first contest of the evening, Matthew Dailey was in full control from the hill as the Elizabethton pitcher got all the run support needed to shut out the Warriors 12-0.

The Cyclones scored a run in the first inning as Bryson Rollins grounded out to bring in one of two runs scored by Elizabethton in the frame.

‘Betsy kept the pressure on as the Cyclones scored two times in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the top of the fifth to close out the scoring as Elizabethton played as the visiting team in the first game.

In the fifth inning, Elizabethton took advantage of triples off the bat of Rollins and Evan Carter and a single by Dailey to help his cause.

Dailey had the right stuff on the day as the crafty pitcher allowed only two hits and no runs over the five innings of play. He also rang up 12 Warrior batters on strikeouts.

Elizabethton had 13 hits in the game led by Nico Ashley, Dailey, Lawson Wagner, Carter, and Karson Dillard had multiple hits.

The Cyclones also were aggressive on the base path swiping nine bases.

Bryce Carter and Dylan McKeehan had a hit in the game for Happy Valley while Charlie Smith was handcuffed with the loss from the pitching rubber.

Even though the Warriors managed to put three scores on the board in the nightcap, the Cyclones managed to take advantage of every opportunity that presented itself to take a 12-3 victory.

Evan Carter took the win from the pitching mound as the Cyclone hurler went the full five innings surrendering the three runs on five Warrior hits and fanned ten Happy Valley batters.

Michael Harrah took the loss as the Warrior pitcher lasted only one and two-thirds of an inning as eight Cyclone runs crossed the plate. Harrah struck out one.

Hunter Smith led the Warriors at the plate going 2-for-2 in the contest.

Ashton Wilson had the hot bat for Elizabethton going 3-for-3 while Bryson Rollins, Evan Perkins, and Jaden Anderson had multiple hits for the Cyclones in an 11-hit attack.

Elizabethton ran their record to 4-0, 9-3 while Happy Valley fell to 1-4, 3-6.
