Larry Stamm Ministries will present programs on Passover

What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus’ Last Supper have in common? Larry Stamm Ministries director Larry Stamm will answer that question on Sunday, April 14, at 10 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. as he demonstrates the Passover and provides an understanding of the Jewish background of Christian Communion.
The ceremonial Seder plate, the three-compartment pouch in which the matzo (unleavened bread) is kept, as well as the traditional cup of Elijah will be explained. Ancient and modern Jewish customs will be discussed and described with an emphasis on the story of the Jewish Exodus together with the life, death and resurrection of Christ.
Larry Stamm was raised in a Reform Jewish home in Florida, and became Bar Mitzvah at 13. He always believed in God, but like many in his religious community, his experience was mostly a matter of social and cultural events and traditions. It wasn’t until he came to know Jesus in 1987 that his Jewish heritage found a deeper meaning within the context of a personal relationship with the God of Israel.
It is that conversion, combined with a deep desire to share his story and his faith that led him to found in 2013 Larry Stamm Ministries, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to make the Gospel of Jesus a confident topic of conversation for every Christian.
To further his ministry, last year he authored his second book entitled Into the Gale: Twelve Evangelistic Lessons from the Book of Acts. He says, “The first century church provides valuable lessons for twenty-first century Christians who are also part of a culture where our faith is mocked, marginalized, and misunderstood. The radical countercultural message of the gospel is more relevant than ever.”
The 10 a.m. Christ in the Passover presentation will be held at CrossLife Church, 4 Wesley Court, Johnson City.
The 6 p.m. Christ in the Passover presentation will be held at Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, 1213 East Unaka Ave., Johnson City.
All are invited.
