Patricia Ann Blevins Dishman, 69, of Chilhowie, Va., passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. She was the daughter of the late Kail and Lillie Roberts Blevins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry G. Blevins, and a cousin, Dr. William T. Roberts.
Patricia was of the Free Will Baptist faith. She received her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from East Tennessee State University and taught school in Carter and Grainger Counties for 16 years. Patricia had a very giving heart and was a friend to all.
Survivors include one son, whom she loved dearly, Clay Dishman of Wake Forest, N.C.; one sister, Linda K. Jarrett and husband Wallace of Bluff City, Tenn.; one brother, Gary Wayne Blevins of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; special nieces, Julie Winegar, DeAnna Hensley, Kristie Chausse and Glenda Conner; and one special nephew, David Blevins. Also surviving is her uncle, William H. Roberts of Hampton, Tenn.
A service to celebrate the life of Patricia Ann Blevins Dishman will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Judy Johnson will provide the eulogy. Music will be provided by Mrs. Julie Keller, soloist. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, in the Captain Nelson Cemetery on Ripshin Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Lindsey Winegar, Dave Hensley, Jeff Chausse, David Blevins, Bennie Franklin and Jerry Shoun. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Animal Shelter of your choice.
