COSBY— Cloudland made the long trip to Cosby on Monday looking to continue to build momentum heading into the upcoming district tournament and took care of business downing the Eagles 5-1.
Cloudland scored one in the first and two runs apiece in the third and fourth inning to build enough of a lead and then turned it over to their pitching staff to hold Cosby at bay.
Brayden Christman had a solid day with the bat going 3-for-4 to lead the Highlanders to the victory driving in two RBI’s.
Hunter Blair also collected multiple hits going 2-for-4 against Eagle pitching. Collin Morgan, Josh Stevens, Dillon Johnson, Jordan Isaacs, Damian Black, Sam Birchfield, and Mickey Webb collected one hit each in the Highlanders 12-hit attack.
Morgan’s hit went for extra bases with a double.
Johnson had a mammoth day as the Cloudland pitcher fanned 15 batters in six innings of work allowing only one run on no hits and walking only one Cosby batter.
Christman came on in the seventh and walked three but got all three outs via strikeouts. He did allow the lone hit the Eagles had in the contest.
Dominic Cowles picked up the lone hit for Cosby in the contest.
