Jonathan Glenn Palmer, 51, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born March 6, 1968 in Banner Elk, N.C., he had lived his entire life in Carter County.
Jonathan was a 1986 graduate of Hampton High School and was retired due to disability from the South Elizabethton Utility District. He was of the Baptist Faith. He loved to fish and was an avid UT Vols fan.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Florence Julian, and his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Virginia Palmer.
Survivors include his parents, Johnny Edward and Mary Elizabeth Julian Palmer; two sisters, Johnna Lynne Palmer Craig and Ashley Palmer; several aunts and uncles; and his special four-legged friend, Sadie.
Funeral services for Jonathan Glenn Palmer will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Presnell and the Rev. Jim Perkins officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, in the Johnson-Roan View Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday, will be Jerry Tipton, Casey Gwyn, Michael Dugger, Jim Wiseman, Kenny Andrews, Rodney Payne, Ray Deloach and Jerry Dale Greene. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the South Elizabethton Utility District. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Dulebohn, Dr. Fullagar and Dr. Young and the staff of the 2600 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of his parents. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
