Virginia Willis

Virginia Willis, 96, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Signature Health Care of Elizabethton following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Alice Hensley Colbaugh.
Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. She loved people and enjoyed talking to her neighbors. She also enjoyed drinking coffee, watching the news and the Atlanta Braves baseball games.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude R. Willis; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bare; a sister, Freda Buckles; and two brothers, Edgar Colbaugh and Calvin Coolidge “Bo” Colbaugh.
Those left to cherish her memory include two grandsons, Jerry Kenneth Bare and Daniel Allen Bare and wife Beth, all of Elizabethton; two great-grandchildren, Kendall Bare and Kacie Bare; and a sister, Elsie M. Presnell, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Virginia Willis will be conducted at noon Wednesday, June 5, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until noon Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the service on Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Barr.
