Justin Kenneth Harrison, 32, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Saturday, June 15, 2019. He was born to Kenneth “Kenny” and Rachel Baker Harrison on May 17, 1987 in Carter County, Tenn.
Justin graduated from Family Christian Academy Home School Program in 2005. Justin fought a long and courageous battle with a glioblastoma brain cancer after being diagnosed at the age of 19. When you walked into Justin’s room, whether it be in the hospital, nursing home or at home, his smile and eyes would light up the room. He never complained or became disgruntled. We know it was because of the peace he had through his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved for you to pray with him, and he loved to listen to gospel music. He loved to go fishing with any of his buddies that would take him, especially Tyler Wiseman. No one on the earth will ever have better caregivers than Justin. His mother and especially his grandmother, Mamaw Phil, cared for him for 10 months 24/7. She held his hand day and night and never left his side unless she absolutely had to. His brother, Jordy, and sister-in-law, Ashley, were indispensable. We feel Justin has his ultimate healing now and is at peace and rest in his Heavenly Home with his Heavenly Father.
Justin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jack and Sue Harrison.
In addition to his parents, Justin is survived by his two precious daughters, Chesney Harrison and Autumn Lynn Harrison; a brother, Jordy (Ashley) Harrison of Elizabethton; a sister, Nikki Barr (Jamie) of Knoxville; his maternal grandparents, George and Phyllis Roberson of Elizabethton and Richard “Dickie” (Christine) Baker of Jonesborough; his uncles, Daniel (Ranee) Baker of Kingsport, Jonathan Baker and Aunt Sarah Baker, Teresa Christian, Jeanna Harrison and Chrystal Stratton; his great-aunts and uncles, Steve (Kathy) Hatley, Robert (Ruthie) Mitchell, Linda Wiseman, BendiDetta Widener, Cassie Baker, Barbara Anecone, Mason, NH, Marjorie (Gary) Snowden and Betty (Jerry) Elliott; nieces and nephews, Ashton, Jordan Paige and Allie Harrison of Elizabethton, Mackenzie and Gage Barr of Knoxville.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Alice Myers of Jeff Hopland Medical Care, Anthony Reece for his kindness and Rochelle Darnell, who was there when he was born and when he passed away.
There will be a memorial service at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mark Potter officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Music will be under the arrangement of Jeff Snyder and Tyler Wiseman. Honorary pallbearers are Chad Miller, Chris Miller, Tyler Wiseman, Jacob Baker, Landon Maness, Adam Abueida and Bud Hatley.
