Dorothy Mae Banner Buckles

Dorothy Mae Banner Buckles, 72, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Friday, July 5, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Edith Banner.
Dorothy was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She loved to read and spend time on her computer. Dorothy also enjoyed joking with people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Buckles; a daughter, Melissa “Runt” Rose; and two brothers, Max Banner and Richard Banner.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Robin Taylor and husband Jerry, Elizabethton, Tenn.; a son, Robert Dean Rose Jr. and wife Pili, Gray, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Josh Taylor, Casey Taylor, Robert Rose, Michael Rose and Cody Russell; five great-grandchildren, Jared, Alexis, Riley, Remington and Elizabeth; and three sisters, Sally Mikhel of Indiana, Barbara Campbell of Florida and Carrie Banner, Nashville, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services, Elizabethton, Tenn. A graveside service to honor the life of Dorothy Mae Banner Buckles will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery, Roan Mountain, Tenn., with Rev. Justin Deaton officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the loving care given to their Mom and during Dorothy’s 19 years there.
