Wilma Crowe

It is with sadness that the family of Wilma Crowe, 85, shares the news of her passing on Friday, July 12, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Vernie (Lipps) Lewis of Stoney Creek. She grew up in the Stoney Creek area of Carter County. A graduate of Unaka High School, she went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Milligan College and a master’s degree from ETSU. She originally taught mathematics in the Carter County schools and after a brief time in Rural Hall, N.C., she returned to teach mathematics at Ross N. Robinson Junior High and Dobyns-Bennett High School in the Kingsport City schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, TSSAA Hall of Fame track and field coach Dan Crowe, and her daughter, Judy Crowe Reedy (of Clarks Summit, Pa).
She is survived by her son-in-law, Gary Reedy (of Clarks Summit, Pa.); granddaughter, Bailey Reedy Guy (husband Zachary Guy), and her great-granddaughter, Coretta Guy (of Harford, Pa). Also surviving are her sister, Geraldine Pierce and brother-in-law, Paul Pierce (of Stoney Creek, Tenn.); her niece, Jennifer Harmon (husband Keith Harmon), and her great-nephew, Colin Harmon (of Piney Flats, Tenn).
The family wishes to thank the exceptional caregivers of Care Central, LLC and the wonderful staff at Asbury Place for all the care and friendship they provided.
In accordance with Wilma’s wishes, there will be no service of remembrance. There will be a graveside service at the Wilson Cemetery on Wednesday, July 17, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jack Roddy officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
