Judy Reece-Brockwell

Judy Reece-Brockwell, 65, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother (“Mammy”), sister, aunt and friend, Judy will be missed and her memory treasured by all who love her.
Judy, a native of Johnson County, grew up in Butler, where she lived the majority of her life. Judy was a member of Butler Baptist Church and attended Willow Springs Baptist Church. She was a 1971 graduate of Johnson County High School and a long-time employee of Burlington and FPC in Mountain City. After moving to Elizabethton, she was employed at Maupin Shell and Walmart.
A selfless person who dedicated her life to her family and others, Judy was an example of a life well lived. Judy and her twin brother, Jackie Proffitt, were born to Beulah and Bruce Proffitt on August 9, 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin brother, Bruce Jack Proffitt; her sister, Lynda Hopkins; step-father, George Carr; nephew, Wayne Lunsford; and brothers-in-law, Harold Matherly and Vaughn Brockwell.
Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Donald Brockwell of Elizabethton; daughter, Julie Brown (Derek) of Gallatin; son, Chris (Tammie) of Elizabethton; step-daughter, Shena Basler of Johnson City; step-daughter, Tara Abdon (Cody) of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; grandchildren, Sabrina Johnson (Jimmy), Alisa Reece (Brandon), Hannah Brown, Matthew Tilly, Austin Reece, Catlin, Connor and Collin Basler, Mia, Ava Jace, Summer and Alex; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Zane, Drew and Clairah; sisters, Jean Lowe, Norma Jean Eldrith and Nancy Matherly; brother, Jerry Proffitt; special sister-in-law, Jeanette Bowers; brothers-in-law, Wayne, Tony, Roger and Larry Brockwell; and special friends, Max Sams and Kim McDonald.
The family would like to send a “Special Thank You” to the staff and friends at Pine Ridge Health Care.
There will be a memorial service for Judy at 7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the service time. Condolences may be sent to the family on our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com
