Katie Leigh Gardner, 27, and her beautiful angel, Gabriel Gardner, 5 months, went home together to be in the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2019. Katie was the daughter of “Sam” J.C. Gardner and Millie Michelle Harrison Gardner. Katie and Gabriel were preceded in death by grandpaw, Charlie Gardner, and great-uncle, Jim Storie.
Katie was a loving mother, daughter, niece and friend and was of the Christian faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed planning holidays and birthdays and making a home for her boys. Katie loved taking her boys to the park, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish Katie and Gabriel’s wonderful memory include Cayden Dean Gardner, of the home; Millie and Sam Gardner of Roan Mountain; Randall and Emma Gardner of Elizabethton; paternal grandmother, Carrie Gardner; maternal grandparents, Kate and Glen Harrison; special aunt, Betty Harrison; uncle, Robert Harrison; special cousins, Gary and Kelly Harrison and their children, Jackson and Kennedy. Several other family members also survive.
A service to celebrate the lives of Katie Leigh Gardner and Gabriel Gardner will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Brandon Young officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the home of Millie and Sam Gardner at other times. The graveside service will follow in the Markland Hill Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Randall Gardner, Robert Harrison, Gary Harrison and other friends and family members.
