Dani Janell Payne Colbaugh

Dani Janell Payne Colbaugh, 55, of Elizabethton, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at the Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Danford and Tafada Smith Payne.
Dani was a 1982 graduate of Hampton High School and Herman Robinson Vocational School. She was employed with the Elizabethton City School System as an administrative payroll specialist.
Dani was a member of Rittertown Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Benny Colbaugh; her daughter and best friend, Hannah Lee Colbaugh; two sisters, Judy (Charlie) Thompson and Janie (Brian) Henson; two nephews, Mark Payne and fiancée Jennifer Campbell and daughter Ellie, and Craig (Whitney) Odom.; a great-niece, Mallory Odom; and her goddaughter, Annalee Treadway.
Funeral services for Dani Janell Payne Colbaugh will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Nathan Jennings and Pastor Scott Fisher officiating. The graveside service and interment will follow in the Rittertown Cemetery with Pastor Dean Smith officiating. Active pallbearers will be Charlie Thompson, Brian Henson, Mark Payne, Craig Odom, Randy Colbaugh, Bobby Colbaugh, Lance Treadway and Chris Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department, members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, members of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Elizabethton Police Department, members of the Elizabethton Fire Department, members of the Carter County 911 Communications Center, Mayor Rusty Barnett and Staff of the Carter County Courthouse, the Administrative Staff of the Elizabethton City School System and Dr. Corey Gardenhour.
