Janice C. Timbs Stanbery, 69, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29, 2019, from her residence. Janice was born in Elizabethton to the late Claude and Emma Brewer Timbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Janice loved her children, grandchildren and was a loving wife. She was a legal secretary for Legal Services in Upper East Tennessee and was a longtime member of Borderview Christian Church in Elizabethton. Janice was a member of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition and enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Larry Stanbery Sr., of the home; a son, Larry Stanbery Jr., of Alabama; a daughter, Marie Stanbery of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five sisters; two brothers; four grandsons; and one granddaughter.
A service to celebrate the life of Janice C. Timbs Stanbery will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Nathan Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 2, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday.
