City schools lockdown due to suspicious activity

Elizabethton City Schools was placed on a soft lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to suspicious behavior in the community.
City School Director Corey Gardenhour said that all the city schools were placed on a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure to protect students.
He said that he received a call from city police about suspicious activity regarding two individuals in an area near a school that he did not name. Gardenhour added that no specifics threats were made.
A soft lockdown is a procedure used by the school system to ensure student safety by closely monitoring and accounting for each student.
