In prep golf, a couple of inches to either side of the hole can mean the difference in winning a match or losing.
The Elizabethton Cyclones found themselves just short of the cup two times too many on Tuesday when they traveled to Graysburg Hills Golf Course to participate in a three-way match with Daniel Boone and David Crockett and came up two strokes short of the Trailblazers, 166 to 168.
Crockett finished with a team score of 182, 16 strokes behind the match winners.
Elizabethton’s Carson Peters with a round of 37 took the medalist honors. Noah Little of Boone shot a 38 while teammate Aiden Hyder finished with a 39. Elizabethton’s Cooper Tipton and Crockett’s Seth Bible finished their round with a 40.
In girls’ action, Boone barely slipped past Crockett 84 to 85 with the Lady Cyclones having an off-day carding a team round of 96.
Jenna Branum from Boone took the medalist honor with a round of 41 on the day. Sadie Bowles from Crockett was one stroke off the pace with a 42.
Hannah Williams of the Lady Cyclones had the low round for Elizabethton with a 45.
