JOHNSON CITY — Dr. Doug Lindsey will perform in a free public Guest Artist Recital at East Tennessee State University on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
This trumpet artist is a member of the music faculty at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Lindsey’s student ensembles have achieved many successes in the last few years, appearing at the International Trumpet Guild Festival twice and advancing to the National Trumpet Competition each year since 2014.
His former duties as music history lecturer at KSU, as well as his experiences on the cornetto and baroque trumpet, reflect his keen interest in the fields of early music and musicology. As an avid composer and arranger, he enjoys creating work for trumpet ensemble, brass quintet and brass ensembles.
Lindsey has performed as a solo artist and an orchestral musician throughout the United States. In addition, he is a founding member of Duo Trompiano with pianist Judy Cole and holds leadership roles in the Georgia Brass Band and the award-winning Fountain City Brass Band.
Lindsey received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, his master’s degree at Yale University and his doctoral degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
