The Overmountain Men reenactors, who crossed the Watauga River on their way to Kings Mountain on September 25, were dinner guests of the Daughters of the American Revolution which included the Julius Dugger-John Carter Chapter of Elizabethton, the Blue Ridge Mtn. Chapter of Mountain City, and the Mary Patton Chapter of Erwin Wednesday evening at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area.

The highlight of the well attended dinner was when members of the Overmountain Victory Trail Association told the gripping story of the Overmountain Men’s historic march to Kings Mountain 239 years ago, ultimately defeating Ferguson’s troops and turning the tide of the war.
