Jerry Keith Heaton, 63, of Hampton, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2019, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, with his family by his side. Born December 19, 1955 in Baltimore, Md., he had lived most of his life in Tennessee.
Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Cloudland High School and a member of Roan Mountain Lodge. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Tip Heaton.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Donna Pierce Heaton; his mother, Dorothy Heaton; two brothers, Ronnie (Judy) Heaton, and niece, Wendy, and nephew, Jamie, and Robert (Sherri) Heaton and nephew, Alex; his father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Kay Pierce; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Randy) Payne and nephew, Michael, and Diana (Dean) Maxwell; his special friends, Sandy and Junior Tolley, Tara and Ronnie Crum, Billy and Dale Greene, Keith Tipton, Steve and Donna Tipton, Debbie and Rick Ricker, Nancy, Toby, Connie Wells, James Gouge, Lug and Kim Wells, Dennis and Jill Panther, Johnny and Moo Eaker, Bobbi and Hillbilly Wilson, Gwen Sprinkle, Vicki Adkins and all of his bluegrass and camping friends and all his co-workers from Eastman.
Funeral services for Jerry Keith Heaton will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Montgomery officiating. The entombment service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 3, in the Mausoleum of Faith at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, will be Billy Greene, Alex Heaton, Michael Payne, Steve Tipton, Junior Tolley and Ronnie Crum. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence or the residence of his mother. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to Dr. Strickland, Dr. Burns, Dr. Savani and the cancer and stem cell transplant team of Vanderbilt University Medical Center for all the care they did for Jerry.
