The Cherokee Chiefs may not want to see another team from Elizabethton for a while especially after the week they have had in athletic contests against the Cyclones.
First, it was a spanking by the Cyclone football team last Friday, then the JV football team got in on the action Monday and to finish it off, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclone soccer team made the trip to Rogersville on Thursday and led by not one, not two, and not even three but six goals by senior Kaylen Shell leading to a 10-1 win over the Lady Chiefs on the pitch.
It didn’t take long for head coach Bill McClay’s team to find net as Maggie Johnson scored just one minute into the contest on an assist by Shell to give the Lady Cyclones a 1-nil lead.
Shell then blasted her first and second goals of the match with the first coming at the 18:00 minute and then the second at the 27:00 mark with both coming unassisted.
Maddie O’Quinn struck gold just four minutes before the half on an assist by Johnson to stake Elizabethton to a 4-nil lead.
Cherokee finally managed to break the ice on their side of the scoreboard when Joylen Edbert scored four minutes out of the half time break to make it 4-1.
It would be the only score the Lady Chiefs would muster on this day as it belonged to Shell and her teammates.
Shell hit the hat trick at the 46th minute on a feed from Lexi Brown and then found the back of the net six minutes later for goal number four in the match and a 6-1 Lady Cyclone lead.
Brown then found the foot as the senior came back with an unassisted goal at the 58th minute and just 60 seconds later recorded a back-to-back goal on an assist from Johnson to push the advantage to 8-1.
Shell then put the exclamation point on the win with a pair of goals coming at the 66th minute and 70th minute to give the Lady Cyclones their final margin of victory at 10-1.
O’Quinn collected the assist on the first goal and Brown fed Shell on the final goal.
The Lady Cyclones will return back to action on Monday evening at 6 pm when they hold their Senior Night as they welcome Crockett to Citizens Bank Stadium.
