Judith Rae Smith Irick

Judith Rae Smith Irick, 77, of Mountain City, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Watauga Medical Center, Boone, N.C. She was born April 29, 1942 in Hermiston, Oregon, to the late Bartlett George and Zelda Lynn Curtis Smith. She had lived in Tennessee for a number of years.
Ms. Irick was a retired Correctional Officer with Northeast State Correction Center, Mountain City. She loved horseback riding and painting. Ms. Irick was a member of Elk Mills Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl Irick.
Survivors include her husband, Teddy D. Irick; five children, Jay Lee Irick, Mountain City, Tedi Birchfield and Bart Irick, both of Roan Mountain, Teri Webb, Rogersville, and Christy Robinson, Sweetwater, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 19, at Strength and Everlasting Love Church, Smith Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Gary Bowman officiating.
