Sometimes getting behind the eight ball early can come back to bite you especially in sports.

The Keenburg Tigers can probably testify to that as the University Bucs built a 17-point lead at the end of one quarter and the mountain was just too high for Keenburg to climb as the Tigers fell 47-39.

After the big first-quarter splurge, Keenburg played solid basketball outscoring the Bucs 14-12 in the second period.

Isaiah Linberg scored seven points in the second eight minutes of action to give him 10 points at the intermission.

Aiden Gross totaled four points, Devin Duggar added three, and Noah Gill two in the first 12 minutes of play.

The Tigers came out roaring in the third period to make a big gash in the Bucs lead outscoring University 12-5.

Gill came alive with six points in the stanza while Duggar and Gross added four and two points respectively as the quarter ended 39-31 in University’s favor.

Needing another huge quarter offensively to catch and pass the Bucs, the Tigers found themselves playing an even quarter in the final six minutes as both teams scored eight points each.

Linberg led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points for the game. Gross finished with 10 points while Gill added eight points.

Duggar closed out the game with seven points and CJ McKinney added two points.
