Ledna Wellman

Ledna Wellman, 82, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and those who had passed before her on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. Ledna was born in Pike County, Ky., to the late Arthur and Bulah Collins Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Ray Wellman; three sisters, Glendan Belcher, Frances Marie Stalker and Rosa Lee Tadrus; three brothers, Geroid Anderson, Larry Anderson and Billy Joe Anderson; and a son-in-law, Terry Scalf.

Ledna was a loving mother and grandmother and was a member of Old Regular Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and canning, making sure everyone was fed, spending time with family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch and spending time fishing at the river.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Pam Wellman and Gale Scalf, both of Elizabethton; two sons, Ronnie Wellman and wife Jeannie and Kenny Wellman and wife Rachel, all of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Judy Kay Cochran and husband Robert of Morristown, Delores Barkhau and husband Jonathan of Elizabethton, Mary Lou Stewart and husband Ervin of Pike County, Ky., and Genet Beltran and husband Lupe of New Mexico. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Ledna Wellman will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 30, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Randy Wellman, Teddy Davis and Walter Rose officiating. Music will be provided by Old Regular Baptist congregation. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, December 1, in the Wellman Family Cemetery in the Dogtown Community of Siam. Active pallbearers will selected from family and friends.
