KINGSPORT – The T.A. Dugger Lady Cyclones were needing a little pre-Thanksgiving appetizer when they traveled to Sevier in Kingsport for a Tuesday night contest before turkey day.
Coach Matt Fox’s team feasted on a 19-point output from Michelle Shields to earn a 41-38 win in conference play.
Shields, only a sixth-grader, continued her hot hand in the early season as she blistered the cotton for four treys in the contest.
Mollie Johnson also had a nice game for TAD as she knocked down two treys of her own en route to a nine-point showing.
Kayelyn Nave contributed with five points in the win while Fox also got four points each from Marlee Mathena and Abbie Crigger.
The difference in the contest was the first half for the Jr. Lady Cyclones who managed to outscore the home team 28-22 and then held off a late Sevier charge down the stretch to seal the victory.
Brice led Sevier with 18 points with Hill adding 10.

The Jr. Lady Cyclone JV made it a clean sweep on their trip to Kingsport by taking the 15-point win to kick things off against Sevier.
Andrea Flores single-handedly outscored the entire Sevier team in the contest by ripping the nets for 16 points. Lillie McDuffie added six points in the win.
Aubrey Cole knocked down a trey for three points while Hannah Hodge added 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
If there were one Achilles heel in the game for TAD it was definitely foul shooting as the Jr. Lady Cyclones went to the line 17 times and made only three of those opportunities.
