Jr. ‘Dogs drop first game of season

After pretty much having their way up to this point of the season, the Hampton Jr. Bulldogs finally met their match on Monday as East Ridge from the Morristown area defeated Hampton 61-42 in the Boone Christmas basketball tournament.

East Ridge built a sizeable lead at the half take a 34-21 lead to the break.

Dylan Trivett attempted to keep the Jr. ‘Dogs in the contest knocking down nine of the 21 first-half points. Hayden Campbell added four points.

The Jr. ‘Dogs just couldn’t get on track in the second half either scoring only 21 points once again.

Chance Point had nine points in the second half.

Trivett finished with 15 points while Point added 11 for Hampton in the contest. Campbell also finished in double digits with 10 points.

J.J. McEleaya, Michael Anspaugh, and Geno Carrico scored two points apiece.

Hampton came close to doubling up the tournament’s first opponent by taking a 31-point win.

Four players reached double figures for Hampton led by Dylan Trivett with 19 points.

Chance Point followed closely behind with 14 points while Michael Anspaugh and Hayden Campbell tallied 11 points each.

Geno Carrico (5), J.J. McEleaya (2), Dominic Burleson (2), Chander Smith (1), and Grayson Young (1) closed out the scoring for Hampton.
