Freddie Crawford celebrated her 101st birthday Saturday, December 21. An Elizabethton resident, Ms. Freddie is the mother of nine children, three of who are still living – Elaine Napier, Teresa Crawford, and Michael Crawford. For a time she lived and worked in New York, where she was a housekeeper at a developmental center. In her younger days she attended Brown’s Chapel AME Zion Church, but now attends church with a daughter in Johnson City. A daughter said she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and loved to cook. “She is also a very clean housekeeper,” said the daughter. In addition to her children, Ms. Freddie has lots of grandchildren, probably 40 at least shared her daughter.
