Holiday closings for city, county

The offices at Elizabethton City Hall will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for Christmas.

Because of the closing, the garbage collection schedule for the week has been altered. Monday’s collection will be as scheduled. However, Tuesday and Wednesday’s collection will be on Thursday, and Thursday and Friday collections will be on Friday.

Also the Elizabethton Public Library will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday as will the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center.

Offices at the Carter County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

All state offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Also, federal agencies will be closed Dec. 24 and employees will have the day off with pay, under an order President Trump issued Tuesday that amounts to the latest in a series of holiday presents to the federal workforce.

There will be no mail delivery Wednesday as post offices around the country will be closed.

Also, all financial institutions in the city and county will be closed Wednesday for the Christmas holiday.
