Christopher J. Whitehead

Christopher J. Whitehead, 32, of Kingsport, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
Chris was born on September 12, 1987 in Banner Elk, N.C. He graduated from Cloudland High School in 2005. Chris, known as “Peewee” by his sister, had a love for country music and a smile that would melt your heart.
He was preceded in death by his “papal J.D. Whitehead” and “mamal Renoke Whitehead.”
Survivors include his parents, J.D., Jr. and Carolyn Whitehead of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and his sister Cayla (Trey Jefferies) Whitehead of Knoxville, Tenn., also known as “Baby” to Chris. He is also survived by his mamaw, Nellie Baker of Johnson City, Tenn. Several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins also survive.
Memorial services will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 29, at 7 p.m. with a visitation preceding from 6 to 7 p.m. with Pastor Gary Whitehead officiating. Family and friends may visit the home of Nellie Baker, 127 Jarrett Buck Loop, Johnson City, anytime. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris’s special buddy, Doug Perkins, and Ernest Reece, of the home, and the staff at his home. A special thank you to Kellye, Jeff and Suzi and the staff of “Our Home Place.” Our hearts are forever grateful. In lieu of flowers it is requested to donate to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation. Christopher will be cremated at a later date.
