Edward “Eddie” James Hill

Edward “Eddie” James Hill, 71, of Hampton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Johnson City Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. He was born October 28, 1948 in Johnson City to the late Ed and Myrtle Blevins Hill.
Edward served in the United States Army where he received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam Era. He worked at Paty Lumber Truss Shop for several years prior to working at the Digital Media Center at East Tennessee State University.
Edward was an avid train enthusiast. He loved motorcycle trips as a family and really enjoyed the off-roading jeep rides with family through the mountains of East Tennessee and North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Doran Lee Hill, and a brother-in-law, Gary Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Lisa Honeycutt Hill; daughter, Melissa Cordell and husband Joshua; grandchildren, Paisley and Jocelyn Cordell, also, a precious granddaughter due in May; siblings, Louella Ledford and Billy Joe Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.L. and Brenda Mullins, Lonnie and Leslie Glass, Rita Davis, Neil Honeycutt, Darlene Hill and Ronnie Ledford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service to celebrate the life of Edward Hill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Tapp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 2500 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Kamesh Sivagnanam, Tasha Phillips and Chris Bennett.
