Carter County deputies responded to a burglary call Wednesday night at 911 Blue Springs Road.

Sergeant Eric Norman said in his report he and three other deputies responded to the call, which said the home resident had suffered stab wounds after the assailant, Justin Williams, entered the home.

Thompson received knife wounds to his abdomen and upper back during the ensuing struggle, and Ketterman received wounds to her right arm. The couple attempted to use a firearm in self-defense, but it was not loaded.

They were able to separate the attacker from his knife until law enforcement arrived.

Charges are still pending for Williams.
