Shirley Claudett Stout Berry, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Margaret Young Stout.
Mrs. Berry was a retired inspector with Procter & Gamble. She was a member of Heartland Fellowship. Her hobby was fishing and camping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Stansberry, and two brothers, John and Jerry R. Stout.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jack Berry; her daughters, Martha Peterson and (Dean Burchette) and Jaqueline Reece and husband Darrell, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Danny Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Danielle Denton and Meagan (“Summer”) Reece; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her longtime friend, Violet “Tiny” Bowers.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 9, at Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Carter and Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of the 3300 Wing of Johnson City Medical Center for the excellent care she received during her stay there. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Thursday.
