The Carter County Election Commission will be examining the voting machines that will be used for Early Voting on February 12, 2020 at 8:15 a.m. at the Carter County Election Commission at 116 Holston Ave., Elizabethton, in the Early Voting room.
In accordance with the TCA 2-9-105(b), the county executive committees of the political parties, independent candidates, and the press may come to examine and verify that the voting machines are properly set up and in accurate working order. Each county executive committee chair and county primary board chair may designate a representative who may be present to see that the machines are properly prepared for use in the election.
When the machines have been examined, the party representatives and either the commission or the voting technician shall make a certificate in writing which shall be filed in the county election commission office stating the number of machines, whether all of the machines are set at zero (000), the number registered on each protective counter and the number on each seal with which the machines are sealed. The commission may delegate its duty to examine the machines to the voting machine technician or Election Commissioner representing party.
