Casting Call: Broadway comes to Greenville

Can you sing like a Broadway star? Audition to share the stage with Broadway performers for the 2020 Broadway Comes to Greenville event, raising awareness for Niswonger Children’s Hospital. Twenty-five young performers from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia will be selected to participate. They will rehearse together and then spend the final week of rehearsals in a master-class experience with guest Broadway performers.

The auditions are for youth ages seven through 17 years old. Roles available include five featured performers and 20 ensemble cast members.

Contestants should prepare a vocal audition, either Broadway, classical or country, and bring their own back-up music or accompanist.

Piano, CD player and Bluetooth speakers are available, and complimentary tickets to Broadway Comes to Greenville are available to the five finalists and ensemble.

The call list will be announced the week of February 15.

Audition times are Monday, January 27 at the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Va.; Monday, Feb. 3, at the Annie Hogan Byrd Theater in Greenville; and Monday, Feb. 10, at First Christian Church in Johnson City. All auditions are at 6 p.m.

The event itself will take place Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m. at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greenville.
