Cyclones, Cougars split TRC contests

BLOUNTVILLE – The Elizabethton Cyclones traveled to Blountville looking to keep their Three Rivers Conference momentum in a showdown with the Central Cougars.
By the time the dust settled, each team came away with a victory with the girls’ game coming down to the final shot of the contest.

Elizabethton picked up a key win over the Cougars as Donta Earnest had a big game offensively leading the Cyclones with 15 points to the win.
The Cyclones received scoring from seven players in the win as Jordan Haynes and William Willocks hit double figures with 11 points apiece to compliment Earnest.
Nico Ashley added seven points for the Cyclones with Brayden Phillips, Parker Hughes, and Jake Roberts picking up five points each in the win.
Joltin Harrison and Preston Sams led the Cougars with 15 points apiece in the Central defeat.

The Lady Cyclones had an opportunity to get back into the thick of the Three Rivers Conference slip right through their fingers.
The Lady Cougars came storming back from a 16-point, third-quarter deficit to defeat the Lady Cyclones on a buzzer-beater, 54-52.
A flurry of turnovers cost Elizabethton dearly in the second half with the Lady Cyclones imploding on themselves in the heartbreaking defeat.
Morgan Headrick totaled 22 points in leading Elizabethton in scoring in the contest.
Kaitlin Bailey and Kaylen Shell added seven and six points offensively for EHS.
Lina Lyon dropped in five points with a quartet of Lady Cyclones scoring three points each including Kelsie Winters, Renna Lane, Cheyenne VanHuss and Torrie Roberts.
Abbey Crawford’s 14 points led Central while Jaelyn West reached double digits with 10 points.
