Cloudland muzzles Lady Huskies with 55-51 win

When the North Greene and Cloudland girls’ teams last met, the Lady Huskies managed to knock off the then sixth-ranked Lady Highlanders in Roan Mountain.

On Tuesday, Coach Matt Birchfield’s ninth-ranked Lady Highlanders avenged the loss with a 55-51 win over the seventh-ranked Lady Huskies in Baileyton.

Cloudland had three Lady ‘Landers stroke the cotton for double-figure scoring led by Kenzie Birchfield with 17 points.

Jasmine Birchfield and Gracie Freeman played contributing roles by hitting for 12 points apiece in the victory.

Leah Birchfield tallied eight points with Heaven Caraway netting a trey. Karah Fields (2) and Kaylen Fields (1) closed out the Lady ‘Lander scoring.

Brenard scored 20 to lead the Lady Huskies with Anderson closing out with 11.

Lady Bulldogs pick up a much-needed win

KINGSPORT – The Hampton Lady Bulldogs boarded the bus at Hampton High School hoping that their visit to Sullivan North High School with high anticipation of coming home with a win.

By the time the dust had settled, the Lady ‘Dogs clung to a 58-38 win that was much needed as the season begins its descent to the district tournament.

Hazen Brumitt blazed the trail for Hampton by pumping in 17 points to lead all Lady ‘Dogs in scoring.

In total, 10 Hampton players registered points in the contest.

Nicole Guy followed Brumitt with eight points with Sara Orr dropping in six points.

Five points apiece were recorded by Destini Milhorn, Hannah Collins, and Linsey Jenkins in the contest.

Madi McClain (4), Bridgett Heaton (3), Skylar Hicks (3), and Alyssa Lambert closed out the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs.

Kotee led North with a game-high 22 points.
