“Victory in Jesus!” 1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Barbara Ann Franklin, 81, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center. Barbara was born in Goat City, Tenn., to the late Charles and Lucille Tetleton Lane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William O. Richardson; a daughter, Tracey Richardson; and a sister, Betty Tucker.
Barbara was so kind that people gravitated toward her and adopted her into their families. She had an immense love for others, was passionate, tender hearted and considered one of the strongest women many have ever known. Barbara was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother to her family and was a member of Unaka Baptist Church. She had managed her late husband’s dental practice until his health prohibited his work and enjoyed playing the piano and organ at church.
Barbara also loved nature and knew all things plant and nature related. She was an avid reader, loved animals, gardening, quilting, reading her Bible and listening to hymns but most of all she loved expressing her faith to others.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Carol Wyatt (Doug) of Elizabethton and Sharon Webb (Christopher) of Dawsonville, Ga.; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Zubli (Craig) of Knoxville, Shanna Wyatt of Orlando, Fla., and Quinn Webb of Dawsonville, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Norah Zubli of Knoxville; one sister, Linda Whitmer of Marion, Ky.; a special niece, Becky Galloway of Newburgh, Ind.; and several other nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Franklin will be conducted at a later time at Unaka Baptist Church with Reverend Stephen Greene officiating. The family will announce the dates and times later. Those wishing to get information on service times are asked to contact Unaka Baptist Church or the family. The family would like to express a special thank you to Unaka Baptist Church for making her feel at home and part of the church family and to the staff and doctors of Johnson City Medical Center for the exceptional care shown to Barbara during her illness. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Unaka Baptist Church, 1598 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
