Bobby “Poppy” Babb

Bobby “Poppy” Babb, 73, Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, January 31, 2020, at his residence. Born December 11, 1946 in Johnson City to the late Alfred Jr. and Maggie Hubbard Babb, he had made his home in Elizabethton.
Bobby was a retired carpenter and construction worker. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He loved working in woodwork.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Babb.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy Roberts Babb; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Lisa Babb and David and Belinda Babb; his grandchildren, Austin Babb, Makaiyla Babb and Emma Babb; his brothers, Mike and Lee Babb and Rick and Christy Hubbard; a host of nieces and nephews; a special brother and sister-in-law, David and Nancy Roberts; and a special cousin, David Babb.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Alan King officiating. Music will be provided by Bruce Hall, Chad Bogart and Larry Leach. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, in the Lyons Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, will be David Babb, Chad Bogart, Austin Babb, Jon Whitson, Cameron Napier, David Babb, Steven Perry and Skylar Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be David Babb and his church family. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
