Laura Pierce

Laura Pierce, 89, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born December 14, 1930 in Elizabethton to the late Josie Miller.
Laura was a graduate of Unaka High School and attended Steed College. She previously worked at Pure Oil, Johnson City, before moving to California. Laura was retired after 24 years with the Lamirada School District in Norwalk, Calif. She was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Pierce; a son, Ronnie Pierce; and a sister, Mary Ruth Gentry.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sheila Pierce; two grandchildren, Carlie and Clinton; a godson, Walter Pierce and wife Loretta; a niece, Lauren Gentry; and special friends, Beulah and Ella Carol Peters.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, in the Blevins Cemetery with Pastor Roger Haley officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, will be Walt Pierce, Waymon Carrier, Tommy Verran, Mike Belt, Billy Grindstaff, Lynn Peters and Mack Pierce.
