Due to illness, Elizabethton City Schools will remain closed today, Feb. 5, while Carter County Schools will close today, Thursday and Friday of this week.

According to a post on the Carter County Schools website the closure is due to increased illness among students, faculty, and staff. A high number of teacher absences has led to difficulty in finding substitutes to continue classroom instruction. Carter County Schools hopes that students and staff will use this time to rest, recover, and return to school healthy the following week while the custodial staff will continue their efforts to clean and disinfect common areas to help slow the spread of illness.
