Crash claims life of Roan Mountain man

A crash over the weekend claimed the life of a Roan Mountain man and left four injured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the man who died in the crash Sunday morning as Fernando Ambrocio, 30, of Roan Mountain. The THP identified the driver who was injured in the crash as 30-year-old Maria De La Luz Rosas Enriquez of Roan Mountain.

The accident happened around 4:44 a.m. Sunday on US Highway 19E — near the intersection of Bear Branch Road.

According to a report released from THP Lt. Rick Garrison, Enriquez was traveling northbound on US Highway 19E approaching Bear Branch Road in a 2002 Ford F250 pickup when the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a rock embankment. The pickup continued southbound off of the right side of the roadway, overturned and came to a final rest on its wheels facing eastbound on Bear Branch Road. Ambrocio was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased on scene. Ambrocio was not wearing a seatbelt. Charges are pending at this time.
