Police: Man fatally stabbed stepdaughter, injured wife

MEMPHIS (AP) — A man accused of stabbing his wife and stepdaughter, killing the younger woman, has been arrested in Tennessee.
Ledis Sanchez, 34, was captured Monday after the attack early Sunday morning while moving out of the family’s home in Memphis, news outlets reported.
Sanchez’s stepdaughter, Sierra Howard, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, who was not named, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Police documents stated both women were injured by a machete, according to news outlets. A motive for the attack had not been announced.
Sanchez ran from the home after the attack, police said. Details about his arrest were not announced.
Sanchez was charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He was booked into the Shelby County Jail. It’s unclear whether he had an attorney to speak on his behalf.
