Roan Street Free Will

The Rev. Jerry Stout will bring the message at both the morning and evening worship services Sunday at Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church.

Poplar Grove

Teen Challenge of Knoxville will host the morning service Sunday at Poplar Grove Baptist Church. The service will begin at 11 a.m.

Teen Challenge is a recovery center for women with life controlling issues. The group will share their message through music and testimony.

Poplar Grove Baptist Church is located on Highway 91, Stoney Creek.

Rock Springs

Dr. Greg Patten, pastor the Cross Church, Ft. Wayne, Ind., will speak at a revival at Rock Springs Baptist Church March 1-3. Dr. Patten can be heard on WHCB Radio twice daily a 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Rock Springs Baptist is located on Highway 167, Butler, in Johnson County (where Doe and Roan Creeks meet at Watauga Lake). Turn left at the one-way bridge and the church is on the hill on the left.

There will be special singing at each service.

Pastor Danny Cooke and the congregation invite everyone to attend.

ARM Fundraiser

Assistance and Resources Ministry, Inc. will sponsor a fundraiser pancake breakfast at Applebee’s, Elizabethton, Saturday (Leap Day), Feb. 29, from 8 to 10 a.m. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat breakfast are $5 each with carry-outs available.   

The menu consists of pancakes, sausage, bacon, and drink of choice.   

Tickets are available at the door or from ARM board members.

Caldwell Springs

Caldwell Springs Baptist Church will host a fundraiser Sunday for Laban Carrier, a missionary from the church, who is serving in Granada, Nicaragua.

The fundraiser will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and will feature music by Carson Peters and Iron Mountain.

A love offering will be received with all proceeds going to Carrier.

House of Prayer

The Valley Forge House of Prayer will host a gospel singing featuring the ETSU Gospel Singers Sunday at the 6 p.m. service.

Following the service refreshments will be served.

The public is invited.

The church is located at 121 House of Prayer Road off the Valley Forge-Siam Road.

First Christian

Michael Klaus, minister at First Christian Church, Elizabethton, will begin a new series of sermons Sunday at morning worship. The theme of the series is “Cost.”

“Salvation is free in Jesus, but it will cost you to follow. Are you ready to find out how? This Sunday we will discuss this topic more fully,” said the minister.

The service begins at 9:45 a.m. The Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday evening, the church is having a multi-generational study of the first five books of the Old Testament (Torah). Services begin at 6 p.m.

Also, the church has a children and student ministry, and all young people are invited.

First Presbyterian

Youth Sunday will be observed March 1 at First Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton. Worship at 11 a.m. will be led by the youth of the church with mini-sermons by Wallace Wyatt, Madison Connelly, and Gabe Edin.

An Education Hour is at 9:45 a.m.

Other opportunities for the week include Meditation at 7 p.m. Wednesday; Thursdays with Jesus group from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday; Exercise Class, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.; and yoga, Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
