Legends II… Peters third book ready for release

Charles Peters who writes the Blast from the Past column is
announcing the release of his third book called Legends ll.
The book consists of stories about local sports legends
including coaches, referees, and players.
Several of the players have been inducted into the Carter County
Sports Hall of Fame and some are scheduled to be inducted this
year.
This book features the Covered Bridge on the cover, a photo
Peters’s dad took way back in 1970.
Over 200 pages, nearly fifty local legends and some poems
Peters has written including Moe Riddle, Pappy Crowe, Coach
Len Dugger and Roy Salyer.
The stories include boxing great Cobb Riddle, Happy Valley
and Elizabethton Coach John Treadway, Hampton’s Leon Tolley
winning the state MVP as well as several lady athletes and referees.
There are also several pages on state and conference records
starting back in the 1950s.
The book will go on sale Thursday at Eagles in downtown
Elizabethton and are expected to also be at Nancy’s Kitchen
and Browns Supermarket by the weekend.
