Paul and Pauline were very active members of their local church.
Paul taught the adult Sunday school class, served as a deacon and filled in for Patrick, the youth church director, if Patrick was unable to lead the youth services.
Pauline taught a class for women who had recently become Christians. She also taught a cooking class for young women who were soon to be married.
Although the husband-and-wife team were busy working for the Lord, they yearned for opportunities for further Christian service. Both Paul and Pauline faithfully witnessed to their co-workers. Five days a week, Paul ate his two tuna fish sandwiches while he shared Bible verses with his co-workers.
“I enjoy fish sandwiches and, as a Christian, I am a fisher of men,” Paul quipped to Pauline.
“And I’m a fisher of women,” Pauline joked back.
A news buff, Paul monitored the daily televised newscasts for important world happenings. “I believe we’re nearing the end of time as we know it,” he told his co-workers.
“You’re just making a mountain out of a molehill, Paul,” said Patricia, Paul’s supervisor at the factory where they worked. “The world has been in its current condition for many years.”
“It’s getting progressively worse,” Paul observed. “I anticipate Jesus is coming back for His church very soon.”
“Well, I plan to have some more fun before I give my heart to God,” said Patricia. “You should loosen up a bit and enjoy things more yourself.”
“I don’t want that kind of fun anymore,” Paul said. “When Jesus died on Calvary’s cross for me, He gave His all. He gave His best. How can I do any less for Him?”
Pauline led several of her co-workers to faith in Jesus. “Thank you for telling me about Jesus’ love for me,” Pixie told her.
“Jesus’ love means more to me than anything,” Portia told Pauline.
Pixie and her husband, Peter, and Portia and her husband, Porter, began attending church with Pauline and Paul.
Paul enjoyed trying to invent new things. One day, Paul decided to invent a microphone so powerful it could reach every human on the planet. Paul reasoned the microphone could complete the job of global evangelization.
“It’s such a unique idea,” said Paul. “I don’t know why no one else has thought about it before.”
Paul told Pauline, “The mic can simultaneously translate the words spoken through it into every language of the world.”
God spoke to Paul, “I’m very glad you are so eager to evangelize the world, but I don’t want you to do it all at one time and all by yourself. I want all my children to be busy telling their world about me!”
