TBI: Man, 62, fatally shot by agents in drug investigation

ETOWAH (AP) — A Tennessee man pointed a gun at authorities Tuesday and was shot and killed, officials said.
Paul Eugene Armstrong, 62, was fatally shot Tuesday evening, according to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation press release.
TBI said Drug Task Force agents were sent to Armstrong’s home to follow up on a narcotics investigation.
When authorities arrived, Armstrong came outside with a gun and pointed it at the agents, TBI said.
At some point two agents, one from Athens Police Department and one from McMinn County Sheriff’s Office, shot at Armstrong, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.
Details regarding the encounter weren’t immediately released. No officers were wounded.
TBI said they were investigating the incident.
