David Hawk is ready for the job.
Hawk describes himself as a proud single father, a businessman, and a native Tennessean.
After attending Tusculum University, Hawk graduated from East Tennessee State University with honors, and later attended Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive program for State and Local Government.
Hawk owned and operated a retail clothing store called “The Tailor Shop” with his family for 20 years. He has had an 18-year career in the legislature, has served as a House member, and currently represents the Fifth District.
On his decision to run for Congress, Hawk said his prior experience and skill set make him feel ready for Washington D.C.
“The experiences that I have had both through business, as well as 18 years of public service in our state legislature, have prepared me to hit the ground running day one when I am elected to United States Congress for the First Congressional District,” he said.
“I understand the congressional process, I know my way around a committee system and I am ready to go day one in Washington.”
In outlining his campaign, Hawk related to his fellow congressional runners, noting they are pro-life, pro-gun, pro-police, and pro-Trump, before saying the additional issues he aims to address.
“I want to work on the issues to the folks in Northeast Tennessee. The most important things are jobs and the economy,” he said. “I have a track record of working through my small business and our state legislature in improving our environment to recruit and retain business.”
In addition to jobs and the economy, Hawk said there are two other main issues he wants to tackle in office. The first of these is the Federal Budget Deficit.
“We are now 26 trillion dollars of debt as a federal government. I cannot in good conscience leave that debt for my daughters to have to pay,” he said.
Hawk said his skills in balancing budgets within the state legislature are something he has a desire to share in Washington D.C. to aid in this issue.

The second issue Hawk said he wants to tackle surrounds mental health and substance abuse.
“As a country, we must do a better job of caring for families that are dealing with some type of mental health or substance abuse issues. One out of every four families in this country is dealing with some type of mental health or substance abuse issue,” he said.
“I want to see the federal government step up and do more to help these families.”
In answering why people should vote for him, Hawk reiterated the fact that he is ready for the job, noting that nothing could surprise him in Washington D.C. at this point.
He invites people to check out his website www.davidhawkfortennessee.com for more information. One can also check out his Facebook page as well.
“I’m asking for your vote and I’m asking for your support,” he said.
