Glenda VanHuss Estep, 84, Elizabethton, passed away at her residence on July 27, 2020, after a long illness.
She was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Cecil and Carma Ree McKernan VanHuss.
Mrs. Estep was a school teacher in the Elizabethton City School System. She was a member of Siam Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter Estep; a son, Tom Glen Grindstaff; and her aunt, Veda Morrell.
Those left to cherish her memory are Steve E. Grindstaff, son; Hunter Grindstaff, grandson; sister, Nancy Woodard of Greenwood, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Amie Grindstaff Markland, Renee Grindstaff Mullins, Steven E. Grindstaff II, Bentley S. Grindstaff, Baron E. Grindstaff, Tally Jane Carver and Ashlyn Carver; and her special caregiver for the past four years, Sherry and Joe Turbyfield.
A private service was conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Nave Cemetery with Pastor Dean Smith and Pastor Jack Roddy officiating. Active pallbearers were Steven E. Grindstaff, Dustie VanHuss, Richard VanHuss, Bart Woodard, John Woodard, Nathan Jenkins and Bill Myers. The service was kept private due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and Mrs. Estep’s family wanting to ensure  health and safety in the community.
